Endotracheal Tube

Definition

An endotracheal tube is a medical device inserted into a patient’s trachea to maintain an open airway, deliver oxygen, anesthetic gases, or ventilation, and prevent aspiration of gastric contents. It is commonly used during surgeries requiring general anesthesia, in critical care settings, or during emergency resuscitation.

Relevance to the MedTech Industry

Endotracheal tubes are essential for airway management, enabling precise control of ventilation and oxygenation in surgical, critical care, and emergency settings. They support life-saving interventions by securing the airway and facilitating mechanical ventilation when the patient cannot breathe independently.
