Catheter

Definition

A Catheter is a thin, flexible tube inserted into the body for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes. Catheters are used in a wide range of medical applications, such as draining fluids, delivering medications, monitoring blood pressure, or performing minimally invasive procedures. Common types include urinary catheters, vascular catheters, and specialized devices like balloon and ablation catheters.

Relevance to the MedTech Industry

Catheters are critical tools in modern medicine, facilitating minimally invasive diagnostics and treatments. They enable targeted delivery of therapies, real-time monitoring, and access to difficult-to-reach areas of the body, improving patient outcomes and reducing the need for open surgeries.
