Biosensor

Definition

A Biosensor is an analytical device that combines a biological recognition element with a physicochemical detector to detect, measure, and analyze biological or chemical substances. Commonly used in healthcare and diagnostics, biosensors detect biomarkers, glucose levels, pathogens, or environmental toxins, providing rapid, accurate results.

Relevance to the MedTech Industry

Biosensors play a critical role in advancing medical diagnostics and monitoring by enabling non-invasive, real-time, and precise measurements. They are integral to point-of-care testing, wearable health devices, and lab-based diagnostics, facilitating personalized medicine and improving patient outcomes.
