Limited Partner (LP)

Definition

A Limited Partner (LP) is an investor in a venture capital (VC) or private equity (PE) fund who provides financial capital but does not participate in the day-to-day management of the fund. LPs typically include institutions, such as pension funds, endowments, and insurance companies, or high-net-worth individuals.

Relevance to the MedTech Industry

LPs are essential for funding innovation in the MedTech sector. Their capital supports the development of medical devices, diagnostics, and healthcare technologies by enabling venture capital firms to invest in early- to late-stage companies. LPs indirectly contribute to breakthroughs that improve patient care and address unmet clinical needs.
