Exploratory Study

Definition

An Exploratory Study is a type of clinical research conducted in the early phases of medical device or therapeutic development to assess feasibility, preliminary safety, and functionality. These studies help refine hypotheses, guide design improvements, and determine whether further, more definitive studies are warranted.

Relevance to the MedTech Industry

Exploratory studies allow MedTech companies to evaluate new technologies or concepts in a controlled setting without committing to large-scale trials. These studies are critical for identifying early risks, optimizing device designs, and establishing initial proof of concept.
